SIX

Yesterday marks 6 years together for us. Most people can't believe we've never broken up, and I'm so proud of how our relationship has grown. I figured I'd share a little Kyle+Meg history:

It was the beginning of my Junior year of high school. I walked into Culinary Arts class and remember texting my best friend immediately to tell her, "that cute boy is in my class!". I was a relatively shy girl in high school so it took some time for us to become friends. I had a major crush on him and one day he even brought me Colstone and a dozen roses to school. It was sweet and I felt so special :)We started chatting here and there and one chilly night in November, he asked me to be his girlfriend.

We conquered our final high school years (year for him) together. We grew and learned a lot through college. I was there when he graduated from Culinary school and he was there for me when I received my diploma. I can't imagine my life without him! He's my motivation and my best friend. We are SO ready to spend the rest of our lives together!

We had a little anniversary eve coffee date on Saturday, and snapped some outfit pictures:
details: Old Navy dress, Madewell Sweater, handmade scarf, F21 boots.
details: Ssur Hat, Dearly Departed shirt and dogtag, h&m pants and jacket, vans

We both worked all day yesterday, but planned a late night dinner for when we both got done with work. It was our first time trying Maynard's Market & Kitchen and we were incredibly impressed. The restaurant is inside an old train station downtown, and the ambiance was so romantic. They played amazing jazz while we munched our 'amuse bouche' and appetizer.  I ordered the Bullionaise Supreme (OMG) and Kyle had the Pork shank. My favorite part was dessert by far--rosemary goat cheese cheesecake and creme brulee. It was a PERFECT evening.

Thanks for the last 6 years, Kyle. Looking forward to 80 more :)

Another Phoenix Weekend!

This past weekend we kicked off the Halloween festivities early! On Friday, Kyle and I packed up our car, picked up my brother-in-law's little bro, and made our way to Phoenix. It was a crazy weekend jam-packed with zombies, shopping (shocking..), cooking, eating, a haunted house adventure, and scary movies. Spending time with my sis and B-I-L is always fun, and this weekend was no exception.

We kicked things off at a Zombie Walk in downtown Phoenix. Last year, we attended as spectators, but this year we went all out.

If you've seen Say Anything, then you deeply appreciate my brother-in-law's costume ;)
That night, we washed up and went to The 13th Floor (a local haunted house). It was terrifying but we wanted more, so we ended the night watching Paranormal Activity 4.

Sunday morning we headed to our favorite Phoenix breakfast spot, Matt's Big Breakfast. Matt's has incredibly fresh ingredients and their coffee is SO delicious. I really enjoyed spending a morning with coffee and my favorite people.

We planned on staying most of that day, even though Kyle had to work the next morning. We got ALL caught up on The Walking Dead (!!!) and the boys cooked a fancy seafood dinner! It always makes me smile to see Kyle in the kitchen. He makes THE best food, and he does an amazing job teaching anyone who wants to learn from him.

It's safe to say this weekend was a blast! Can't wait to see them all again soon <3

A Very Disney Week

This weekend we loaded up a rental car and made our way out to Anaheim, CA. We unfortunately had to put one of my dogs to sleep this past week, and getting out of town was exactly what we needed. Our group of 5 consisted of my mom, my brother, my brother's friend Jordan, Kyle, and myself. We had three amazing days park hopping between Disneyland and California Adventure. Our first day at Disney was a special Halloween event, where we dressed up in costumes and trick-or-treated! If you've never been to Disneyland during a holiday, I highly recommend trying it!

Treats, fireworks, a visit from my bestie Lindy, posing in photos, and family time. Dad, Ashley, and Christian...we missed you guys!!!!

It's been a month.

Literally. It has been a whole month since our last post. Kyle has been working 50+ hours for the past four weeks and it's been pretty exhausting for him. We've been spending our evenings watching a lot of HGTV, Kardashians, drinking a lot of Pumpkin Spice, but mainly kicking back and relaxing.

Things are going generally well. We have a lot to do wedding wise in the next couple of months (including taking engagement photos!!!) but we are almost done conquering the guest list. Our invites are all done and ready for printing, most of the DIY projects have been selected and tested to make sure they wouldn't be total fails, a majority of the decoration thrifting is done. All that's left is some arrangement of details. The holidays will likely breeze by, leaving us with 5 months to finish up. I have to say, a longer engagement is actually very beneficial to planning! Despite a few ups and downs, this has been a relatively stress-less process (KNOCK ON WOOD x100000).

Tonight, Mama Allen made dinner and invited us all to a Scrabble battle. I baked some Pumpkin Pie Bars, (via Pinterest) which we paired with Starbucks, of course. The aroma of my new favorite candle made the night feel extra autumn-y.
Talk about an unlucky letter line-up -__- Vies was unimpressed by our skills..

There is no winner as of right now. We put the game on pause so we could all get a good night's sleep. To be continued.....

5.9

Yes, we are the couple that still celebrates moving one month closer to another anniversary. I have caught some flack here and there for counting the 18th of each month as a special day. The fact is, exchanging a simple "happy 18th" each month gives us both a chance to celebrate our relationship in a special way. In three months we will hit the big 6 year mark. Kinda crazy to think we were once a couple of high schoolers flirting in culinary arts class :)

Thank you Cartel Coffee Lab and Az sunsets for making our 5.9 extra lovely. And thank you K for always loving me unconditionally. <3
